Mitsubishi Outlander

A short slideshow following the exterior and interior lines of the Mitsubishi Outlander. The Outlander combines the lofty ground clearance and commanding driving position of an off-roader, driver-friendly dimensions with a small footprint and generous seven-seater cabin space with the driver dynamics and low centre of gravity of a saloon car.

Key design highlights are its bold ‘Mount Fuji’ grille flanked by a set of piercing headlamps. The Outlander’s dynamic qualities are reinforced by its sleek profile and clean styling cues - the distinctively slash-back rear quarter window, the boldly flared wheel arches and the technical LED wrap-around tail lights. Further clues to the Outlander’s twenty-four-seven versatility are the integrated roof-rails and the useful split tailgate.

This visual dynamism is echoed in the Outlander’s cabin layout. Inspired by the pared-back feel of motorcycle design, the dash features two circular and deeply cowled metal-look speedometer and tachometer dials that mimic the dials of a motorbike.

Additional metal-look highlights such as the bracelets on the multi-function three spoke steering wheel, climate control dials and air vents further reinforce the structural design theme, complemented by the ‘technical’ feel to the cabin’s soft-touch plastics and the mesh-weave material on the heavily bolstered semi-bucket front seats.

The Outlander’s rally-inspired AWC All Wheel Control four-wheel drivetrain has been designed with enhanced on-road stability and safety in mind. With a simple twist of a rotary drivetrain mode selector mounted on the cabin’s centre console, the driver can electronically select three driving modes – 2WD front-wheel drive, 4WD Auto and 4WD Lock.
